Dr. Michael Glassman

Dr Mike Glassman is the visionary founder of The Family Dental Practice in Johannesburg, established in 1984. With a career spanning over four decades, Dr Glassman has consistently pushed the boundaries of modern dentistry, earning a reputation as one of the nation's leading experts in orthodontics, ceramic restorations, and dental implantology.

Graduating with a BDS degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1982, Dr Glassman has built an illustrious career enriched by numerous advanced qualifications. He is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI, USA), where he also earned his Master’s degree, and holds postgraduate diplomas in Implantology from Goethe University and the Implant and Aesthetic Academy in Frankfurt, Germany. His commitment to excellence was recognised when he received the award for the Best Case Study at the inaugural Implant and Aesthetic Competition.


With nearly 40 years of orthodontic expertise, Dr Glassman has treated a vast array of complex cases, showcasing a special interest in ceramic restorations and full-mouth rehabilitation. A pioneer in adopting cutting-edge technologies, he has mastered CEREC CAD/CAM systems to deliver precise and efficient restorations, including crowns and veneers, often in a single visit.

Dr Glassman’s professional affiliations further highlight his dedication to continuous learning and excellence. He is an active member of the Implant and Aesthetic Academy (IAA) with branches in London and Cape Town, and the South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD), staying at the forefront of the latest advancements in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.
